Nuance: The fourth halving block arrived nine minutes into April 20 UTC, so it was still April 19 in US time zones — both dates appear in reputable coverage and neither is "wrong" without a timezone qualifier.

Common misstatements:

  • "The 2024 halving was on April 19." — Correct only for US time zones; block 840,000's timestamp is 2024-04-20 00:09 UTC.
  • Mixing up heights (e.g., "the first halving at block 200,000"). — Halvings fall exactly on multiples of 210,000.
